Hands reflect the life and characters of owners - by looking at a hand you learn a lot about that person, someone told me when I was a child.
On a train, in a lobby, in a cafe, at a bookshop, when waiting for the traffic light at a zebra crossing. Ever since then, I secretly looked at people's hands.
Bits of paint on fingers, scratches on the back of hands, stains between fingernails, long slim fingers, short thick fingers, knobby finger joints etcetera. Each piece of information triggers my imagination and prompts me to come up with stories about the people.
The white paint looks like acrylic. Fingers are thin and have some minimal silver rings. Is she an artist? The skin looks fresh and supple. Maybe an art student?
Whenever I draw hands, I try to capture the essence of the model's life and character. The movement of hands reveals a lot about a person's feelings and personality, and I hope to convey that in my hand drawings.
