The sight of the spider web reminded me of the short story " *The Spider's Thread" by Ryunosuke Akutagawa the other day. I read the story as a child, and its descriptions of hell kept me behaving reasonably well as a child.
Anyway, in the story, the thread was the only connection between hell and heaven. I saw the spider's thread as a metaphor for an opportunity to change life.
The thread seems to be so thin and fragile.
We fear the unknown and failure, so we may not take it.
We hope for a better life so we may take it.
The spider's thread was broken by the selfishness in the story.
We become too focused on our desire and forget why we started.
The illuminating thin spider's thread reminds me why I am creating.
